Cape May Day 2

I'm wondering, why is a blog different than a blanket email?

Anyway, onward. To chronicle the vacation of 2006, we left Yarmouth yesterday (Friday 07/29) around 2 pm. We didn't stop until we reached Hampton, which is where the liquor store is. By Hampton we needed it pretty badly so I bought some airplane bottles and divvied them up. 1 for Patty, 1 for me. 2 for Patty, 1,2 for me....... Patty rented a mini-van with a drop-down DVD player ( a FABuLOUS invention not). The kids plugged in their first selection before we pulled out of the driveway. It was 'Corpse Bride'. Lovely. When it was over they plugged in 50 First Dates, which I love for obvious reasons, and then we sat through 101 Dalmations. It was a long trip and we weren't even in Worcester yet. After a while I drove and of course the heavens opened and we drove through a horrific storm. We stopped at several disgusting rest areas. We drove and drove and drove, finally arriving at Cape May around midnight. It was at least 90 degrees and my glasses fogged up when I got out of the now filthy van. The place we satyed at was a glorious old Victorian with gobs of rooms and stairs and secret passages. Our room (the Girls room) had two Queen size beds pushed together with feather pillow tops and down comforters and sheer curtains blowing in the breeze and was just beautiful. We slept lined up ike sardines, Me, Emily, Patty, Hannah and Viola. Boy did we sleep. This house is Michael's sister Nora's house. She has no children so all her plates are intact and she has state-of-the-art appliances. There were a lot of people there and it was just fine by me. It weas also 98 degrees which is not okay, so we went shopping. I managed to buy a bathing suit that resembles either a refridgerator or a pink hippo! Hey, I don't know anyone here, so who cares?
We picked up the keys to the house we're renting at 2pm and re-loaded the van and drove over to our new home. I knew it looked familiar, as in Officer Housing at Fort Campbell Kentucky. But it has central air and WiFi so we are all happy. Then we all took naps, showers and went to the beach and walked around. The temp had droppoed to around 95, so was bearable. Tomorrow (Sunday) we are going to the beach. Shouyld be fun. I'll keep you posted!
