Hampton / Seabrook NH sunrise

Here are some gorgeous shots of the sunrise from Rella's deck in Hampton Beach, where I went for three days. Rella is my friend Carol's sister, real name Mary Ellen but at her birth for some reason someone called her Cinderella, one of the other kids changed it to Rella and 45 years later there it still is. We've shortened it to 'Rel' now, because at our ages we don't have much time left.

Wedding in the Family

As you all know ( and most of you didn't RSVP shame shame) Jamie got married Saturday August 19th to her long-time boyfriend Keiran Watson-Bonnace, from Castlemain, Australia. The ceremony was held in New Milford, Connecticut at Keiran's Granmothers Country Home. They call it a farm, but hey, with 7 buildings, a museum, a culinary area and a staff of six I wouldn't call it a farm. It was a lovely, lovely ceremony, both Bride & Groom looking splendid. Attendance was good with about 100 people, some crashers from New York and mostly family. It was roughly 100 Zillion degrees making it the hottest wedding on record since Charlotte & Tony got married in 1986 (or '87)...where it was also 100 Zillion degrees. The enclosed pictures cover the three day span... I would have put in more pictures but have technical difficulties. Or am inept, whichever you prefer. :-)

Cape May Thursday August 3rd

Aloha and Bonjour from balmy Cape May. It is currently 89 degrees and quite humid. I was going to cuss and swear about it but why bother?

Ooops, sorry, that's Yankee Stadium, not Cape May. It was easily as hot that weekend, tho'..That weekend in NY is the time I vowed to never drink Grappa again. Anyway, I digress...

Yesterday was a hoot, we went and played of all things miniature golf. We had met the owners of this small playland, with mini-golf, race cars, arcade games, driving range and a batting cage. They gave us free passes, so off we went. I didn't golf, I used the driving range and managed several drives over 130 yards. Then I collapsed from heat and went to the hospital. Just Kidding. After we got done being miserable there, half our party went to the beach to be miserable and Patty, Emily, Viola and I went shopping. We went to the Cape May Linen Outlet and wait 'til you see the gorgeous quilt I bought. After about an hour we came back here and I slept for two hours. Don't know what the rest of them did. Dinner was a potluck thing at Michael's sister Nora's of Victorian house fame. Eggplant Parmesean, pasta with marinara sauce, salads, bread. It was like being at Carol's. Yum-Ola. We played cards and came back and went to bed. Trust me, it's too damn hot to do anything at all.

Cape May is actually a beautiful little town with an amazing amount of fancy trim of many different colors on the Victorian houses that abound. It's pretty flat here so you can see for miles. I had planned to walk every morning but it is way too uncomfortable to do that. All in all, nothing to report...I can't begin to list the things the Fighting Pascarellas have done, so will compile all that when I get home.

Cape May 10 Billion degrees

Hey, finally figured out that if I step away from the computer and let it work my pictures will load. I just have to leave it alone. Pretty bad day yesterday with 101 degree heat, very very cranky children, very very cranky Patty. Then we have Michael's Dad showing the children how to get a spanking with a belt. He actually took his belt off and was waving it around. And laughing. Guess he thought it was funny.

The heat was amazing yesterday, topping out at 100 and holding. We went out to eat at an All You Can Eat Chinese Buffett that was actually pretty good, although no A/C. A lot of Michael's family came here for cake & ice cream as it was Hannah's birthday. Loud Italians!!

Think we're going to the beach today as it is going to be 100 again and there isn't much else you can do besides shop! Hey, I might go in the water today, will let you know

Cape May Day Whatever

Good Morning all my adoring fans. It's another torrid day here in the rain forest. It never rains...it doesn't have to because the humidity is 66%. Going to be 101 today they say.

So far for activities we have gone shopping, gone to the beach, gone to the Boardwalk (which isn't even a city block long and very cute) come back to the house and gone to bed. Yesterday Patty and I made the mistake of 'running to the Cingular Store' to get a charger. The mistake was bringing Viola, who must get a present at every store. I finally distracted her by offering her food so we wound up at Starbucks buying a two dollar cookie. When we walked into the Cingular store the bimbo behind the counter looked up and said 'Please Sign In!' There was only one other person in the store. Regardless it still took almost 20 minutes to purchase a pre-packaged pre-priced charger. So much for Customer Service. Then we went to the grocery store for birthday cards for Hannah. $65.00 later we left and careened back to the house, after stopping at the Liquor Store and the Beachwear store. Jesus. Then Patty took a nap & I went to the beach. The beach is actually fantastic, quite different from Maine. Very coarse sand and raucous surf. There are a lot of dolphins swimming about 500 feet from the shoreline. They go back and forth and jump around, do some tail walking, and whatever dolphins do. They follow the guys on the Sea-Doos. There is also a lot of people para-sailing (?)... being dragged by a boat while you're dangling 100 feet off the ground from a parachute. Looks like fun?

For diversions one can get out of the beach chair and walk to the Ladies Room. And back. There are a couple of bars across the street from the Boardwalk, but we have always had children with us so we drink at home. Otherwise it's just sitting and sitting. It's great. The water is full of small stinging jellyfish about the size of a jelly doughnut. Harry got stung pretty badly yesterday. Come to find out he was trying to catch jellyfish in a bucket. It took about an hour for the pain to die down. Guess he won't do that again!

So far I haven't been able to get Emily out of her jeans and into a bathing suit. We'll see about today when it's like Death Valley at the beach.
